Eastmark Update 15 October 2016
We are busy getting rid of a lot of our stuff that has accumulated over the last 27 years. Sheredith and Devin are beneficiaries. They get to have a carport sale with all of it. Good luck!!
Oliver is having a good time too!
Below shows the status of the new home as of 8th October.
We have had two families say they want to buy our home. We'll see if they get their financing in order.
Below is the status as of the 15th of October
I am measuring it all to be sure!

HAWS HAVEN will what?
What do all of the following pictures have in common?
I know it is difficult to believe that after 27 years living in our present home with its large house, garden, basketball court, meditation area and large yard, that we are going to move. It is even more difficult to believe that we are moving into an HOA subdivision that we swore we would never do!
But the unthinkable has happened!
We signed a contract with Taylor Morrison Homes in the Eastmark Subdivision in the East Valley.
Any of our children who want a good deal on the Haws Haven must speak up before November 1 at which time we will list the home with D. Zufelt on the open market.
We purchased the Whistler model.

The only difference is that we opted for the 3 car garage instead of the Den/Study
The construction of our new home at 4760 S Ion, Mesa officially started 28 September 2016 with the placement of the exterior wall forms. We are pretty excited about the move and to see something actually get started makes us happy. If all goes per plan our home will be ready in February or March 2017.
1 October 2016 Wallace inspected the sewer lines and took asbuilt measurements. Everything looks great so far! Here are a few pictures.
That's right. They are all pictures of HAWS HAVEN! Haws Haven has been the location for more adventures we can even begin to write about in this blog post. Haws Haven has been home for 27 years. Remember the unveiling ceremony when we uncovered the two stone monuments with the words HAWS HAVEN engraved on them. You can just see them at the base of the basketball standard in the above picture.

A new adventure is about to begin! What do we do with the Haws Haven monument sign and what do we call our new home site?
I think we will have to come up with a new name and we will of course have a dedication ceremony of our new home.
We will keep you posted on the construction progress.

HHH 2014May
There has
been so much happening since we returned from our mission to the Dominican
Republic that it is difficult to keep up.
Here are the highlights:
OWEN STANLEY HAWS
Born 2 April 2014This is a significant event, but we were not able to be part of it so we haven’t seen this famous character.
SHEREDITH AND DEVIN
HARDY ARE MARRIED 18 April 2014
Devon Hardy
called us while we were still in the DR and asked Wallace for Sheredith’s hand
in marriage. Devon and Sheredith went
through with it and were married in the Gilbert Temple. It was a grand occasion.
MERIC DON MILLER
Born 26 April 2014
Edith and Wallace took a trip to West Haven,
Utah to help Susan with the birth of Meric Don Miller, the 7th
addition to their family and our 22nd grandchildren. Actually Susan did just fine with the actual
birth of Meric without our help, but we tried to help around the house for a
few days.
While there
Wallace helped them move some stairs, build a chicken coop, fixed a bathroom
toilet, the bathroom door, a bathroom shower faucet, and cut his hand washing
the dishes on a broken glass cup. It was
a very deep cut and bled profusely.
Everyone wanted him to go to the emergency room, but Wallace just
applied his Boy Scout skills and fixed it up using electrician’s tape.
Wallace also
took violin lessons from Jared.
We stopped to visit the Hoover Dam on the way home.Father and Sons April 2016 with Nathan and Caleb
Wallace (Grandpa) and Nathan and Caleb camped together as part of the Father and Son's Outing held at Bear Canyon Lake. It was a great outing. It rained; it hailed; and it snowed. But we slept warm and dry at night and had a great time.

What is Kindness?
Kindness means "the quality of being
friendly, generous, and considerate". It is a Christ-like attribute
that we should try to develop.
Jesus said it in several different ways:
John 13:34
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another;
as I have loved you, that ye also love one another
Watch how on another
occasion Jesus taught us to love one another.
Watch this little movie I made
in which Caleb and Genevieve are the star actors:

Now
it is time to take a Final Exam to see if you can now recognize kindness.
Watch these videos and every time you recognize an act of kindness you
get a kindness pill.
I thank Caleb and Genevieve for helping with this movie. They are stars!

Kato Devar Haws tells a story about a bomb
My father Kato Devar Haws entered the military service during World War 11 as a truck driver, but shortly after joining he signed up to learn photography and fly on a photo plane.
The photo plane would follow a bombing run for the purpose of taking photos and later assessing the success of the bombing run. The photo plane fly at about 20,000, dropped a phosphorous bomb that had an altimeter to trigger the detonator at about 10,000 feet. The photographer would take pictures by the light of the exploding bomb.
One of the favorite stories my daddy told me was about how he saved the life of all those aboard his plane because he got cold after a bombing run and went to look for a warmer place on the plane. On his way from the back of the plane to the cockpit, he came upon a loaded bomb in the belly of the plane. The bomb was set to explode at about 10,000 ft. They were flying toward their home base at about 20,000 feet descending as they went. My daddy and the pilot, stood on a narrow plank that ran along the floor of the bomb bay, each grabbed one end of the bomb and dropped it off into the cold dark night sky below. The wind was tearing at them trying to suck them out into the dark. It was a frightening and brave act.
If no-one had discovered the bomb, the plane and everyone on board would have been lost.
Listen to him tell his story.
